Yanuziello Electric Short Scale

The Yanuziello Electric--that’s the name.

Joe makes one style of electric guitar, and this is it. And it is simply a fantastic electric guitar. Everyone who owns one adores it, and considers it a desert island guitar.

There are a number of reasons why. Joe is a master luthier, and makes absolutely fabulous acoustic guitars. He bases his electric on a hollow  version of a "Stratotone," an early, very inexpensive guitar that had a very unique, earthy quality. Stratotones had their own sound - not Fender, not Gibson. Unique. But he just used that as a pattern. What he built was a master’s version of that design’s DNA--what it would be like if you made that guitar as good as it possibly could be.

Joe’s version of this guitar would be like giving Jimmy D’Aquisto a Kay Barney Kessel archtop, and saying, make me a master builder’s version of this: A glorious instrument that exceeds anything out there.

That’s what he’s done. The guitars are gloriously handcrafted. He uses the absolute finest materials available; flamed or curly maple, honduran mahogany, Brazilian rosewood fingerboards. He hand makes his tailpieces, bridges and pickup covers. You can see Joe’s mastery at work simply by looking at how the headstock melds into the beautiful medium C shaped neck. A work of art. Even the way he attaches the neck to the body is spectacularly machined and executed. No details, no matter how small, are overlooked.

I always look forward to the arrival of a Yanuziello electric, and with this short scale offering it is even more exciting than usual due to its special attributes. Yanuziello's have a vibe all their own - efficient, friendly and masterfull. They never work against you, and this one takes that ethic even farther. With a scale length of 22 1/2" and a sleek nut width of 40 mm this guitar takes "easy to play" to a new dimension. It is as addicting to play as it is inspiring to behold - just look at the incredible curly top cap and neck woods! As always, the workmanship on this "Yaz" is of the very highest level.

The electric sound is big, transparent and wonderfully open, just loaded with character. If you are a Byrdland lover looking for another way to express yourself, well look no further because this guitar might be just perfect for you. The short scale of course facilitates intricate single-note patterns and unusual stretched chord voicings, yet doesn't leave you wanting for sustain.

There is something in this particular guitar's recipe that brings out the naturally organic quality of Joe's work. If you have been looking for a guitar with the "it" factor it might be well worth it to take this beauty for a ride.
