Heatley guitars pay homage to the classic department store guitars of the '50s and '60s. With the Parisienne, Scott Heatley takes the aesthetics of those old guitars and marries them to the precision construction only a small boutique shop can offer. The Parisienne is not a copy of any guitar in particular but rather a platform to suit your personal style.

CRAIG'S POV

Straight out of a collection, in the same condition as when it originally sold from CR Guitars, here is a Scott Heatley Parisienne. What follows is the original write-up for this incredible instrument.

There is something about Canadian guitar builders that attracts me. My love affair began in the late '80s when my friend and builder extraordinaire, Roger Sadowsky, recommended Linda Manzer for my next acoustic guitar. At that time, great American builders made their version of traditional flat tops. But I wanted something different, something refreshing. My first of many Manzers was an outstanding guitar with a distinctive and fresh point of view.

My Canadian build journey eventually led me to one of my favorite luthiers, Joe Yanuziello. At some point, uber guitarist Matte Henderson mentioned that if I dug Yanuziello's work, I should check out Scott Heatley. I eventually did and was blown away. I was so impressed that I reached out to Scott, had a wonderful conversation, and became a dealer that day. His commitment, talent, and passion for excellence are the traits I look for in a builder. And maybe, most importantly, he is a great guy with great ideas!

Our current offering is Heatley's Parisienne model, and it is a beauty! Scott nails it here with the rich and elegant quality of his work. Everywhere I look, this guitar has something that catches my eye - the handmade knobs, the elegant inlays, and a cool retro-style headstock that winks to the past. The finish is exquisite; a warm, buttery-looking Mercedes Yellow. I love it!

I'm a big fan of Wolfstone P90s (they are Johan Gustavsson's go-to), and they kill in this Parisienne. And the sound is as exceptional as its beauty. Sonically it is smooth and balanced, woody and rich with an organic personality that can get nasty with a flip of the switch; it would pair well with just about any genre of music. This guitar's playability is righteous, with a beautiful '59 style neck profile and fine fretwork. Every aspect of this guitar has been thought out and executed in an inspired and masterful way.

For a guitar to excel, the sum has to be greater than its parts. All ingredients must come together to make a stew that satisfies your soul. Those are the guitars I search for, crafted by builders like Scott Heatley. And this one nails it.

ABOUT HEATLEY GUITARS
Heatley Guitars was founded in 1997 with a very humble loan and a tiny shop. From the beginning the idea was to build high quality guitars in small numbers and it remains that way to this day. The output is kept limited to ensure the quality stays high. Scott Heatley used his years as a tech, before he started building, to hone his setup and fretwork skills. In the '80s he was the guy you brought your Kramer or Jackson to to get the Floyd Rose setup properly. If you had a bunch of parts you wanted made into a guitar, he was the guy to get it done. Initially, he started building to satisfy his own obsession and need for more guitars. He actually started the Heatley Guitars business so he could have more guitars. It took off faster than he thought and after a few years it turned into a full blown shop with a CNC machine and all the toys. Scott builds guitars because he is obsessed with them and loves to build them. It is his art and his passion.
