Rancourt CR Guitars Signature Acoustic Archtop

It's always a joy to discover, meet, and get to know exceptional and gifted talents who are devoted to giving inspired meaning to pieces of wood with strings on them. Case in point: I found Guillaume Rancourt through the legendary guitar maker and dear friend Ken Parker. I had asked Ken if he could recommend any young builders for me check out. Ken strongly suggested I contact Guillaume Rancourt, which led me to order one of his superb instruments for the shop. Rancourt was kind enough to hand deliver this Concerto to me and let me say I am not only immensely impressed with the guitar, but I was equally impressed with the man himself. Like I said, it's a part of my job that brings me great joy.

Guillaume's commitment to excellence, his absolute care, his unrelenting search for perfection and his masterful talent just blow me away. So young and so able combined with deep personal and professional integrity. Just like the the builder Issac Jang, he is a welcome addition to the world of lutherie and will be for years to come.

He, like Isaac, is a builder who understands that beauty and masterful craftsmanship are not enough to make a fine guitar. The guitar itself only serves its true purpose if it works as a musical tool in the service of a player. Of course, it should be impeccably and thoughtfully made with talent, care and skill. But at the end of the day the instrument itself must join the player, open his or her heart and inspire a feeling of joy.

Though this guitar appears to have a traditional archtop esthetic, it really breaks the bounds of those constraints. What do I mean? It is very light in weight with a rich modern acoustic tone that would satisfy every facet of acoustic guitar styles. And any acoustic guitar player. Whether you are a jazzer, a fingerpicker, or a hard strummer, this guitar will deeply satisfy you. With its fast and light to the touch action, this guitar has the unusual capability of traveling from Al Dimeola's fleet fingers to Ry Cooder's deep soul. How does it accomplish this? Rancourt's bracing pattern and inner workings are quite revolutionary, and are based on scientific discoveries that inspire this builder.

This latest Rancourt is now the official CR Guitars Signature model. Guillaume was kind enough to accommodate all the nuances I requested and to meld them altogether in a remarkable archtop guitar. From the custom pickup system to the unique cutaway; from the stellar headstock design to the superb neck profile, everything was given microscopic care and unrelenting attention to detail. Check out where the controls knobs are located. Like on my John Monteleone archtop they are placed in the tailpiece, out of the player's way. Most importantly, the location has enough space to accommodate the highest quality electronic components. Small thing, maybe, but a large thing when it comes to tone. And tone is what this guitar is about. The custom magnetic pickup along with the K&K piezo bring the amplified sonic territory to a whole other level. Top that off with a side sound port, so you the player can experience an almost 3 dimensional aural playing experience.

One more thing: It is stunningly beautiful with masterful woodwork, fit, finish, and extraordinary playability. It's simply lovely!

As Rancourt's demand grows so will his build time. So here is a a chance to acquire a guitar by an exciting young builder before time and price make it more difficult.
