This is truly one of the best small body guitars ever. Michael originally built this guitar to be his personal instrument and chose options that were close to his heart. The flamed mahogany body and neck are standouts along with its ergonomically enhanced palm away and Laskin inspired bevels. Everywhere you look there is evidence of sublime craftsmanship yet there is nothing glitzy going on here. It’s just simply beautiful.

CRAIG'S POV

The Builder:
I've known about Michael Greenfield for many years. He has a legendary reputation amongst players and collectors. It's the kind of reputation that only time and talent can render. His guitars are famous for their extremely well crafted and carefully articulated tone and build.

But until the recent Woodstock Luthiers Invitational, I had never really spent quality time with one of Michael's steel string acoustics. Michael's exquisite G3 model is now in residence here at CR Guitars. It is a gem of a guitar built by a real gem of a human being, one who cares very deeply about every aspect of his craft as well as being finely tuned in to what a player wants in his guitars. His goal is that you the player are just not satisfied, but thrilled with your Greenfield. His masterful guitars and commitment to the player are why Michael is now part of the CR Guitars family. I am honored to be one of his few dealers.

The Guitar:
This is truly one of the best small body guitars I have ever played. Michael originally built this guitar to be his personal instrument and chose options that were close to his heart. The flamed mahogany body and neck are standouts along with its ergonomically enhanced palm away and Laskin inspired bevels. Everywhere I look there is evidence of sublime craftsmanship yet there is nothing glitzy going on here. It’s just simply beautiful. The playability is astounding with a seductive neck profile. Some of my favorite neck carves come from builders, like Michael, who also build archtops.

The sound is rich, throaty and fat with great sustain. That it comes from a smaller-bodied acoustic is really impressive. Mr Greenfield really knows how to squeeze every molecule of tone out of his guitars.

The Takeaway:
I love this guitar and after playing it I didn't want to leave the Woodstock show without it. It belongs here at CR Guitars. It is fundamentally what my shop is all about; The finest hand selected guitars built by only the finest passionate guitar makers.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.
