Like the under-appreciated Ted Green, who also played a range of instruments over many years, many guitarists eventually came to the conclusion that Leo Fender had gotten it right the first time. (As did Keith Richards - to come at it from a different direction). In short, they all realized that simplicity is king. LsL keeps that philosophy alive, with a commitment to making simple, pure designs as well as they can be made.

CRAIG'S POV

When you open the case of this beautiful instrument, you have to pinch yourself that it is not a vintage guitar. But that's what Lance Lehman is about, bringing modern guitars in to the world that have the spirit of our old vintage friends.

This T-bone guitar was made from a special stash of light, resonant ash. We recently sold an incredible Saticoy style guitar made from the same stash that weighed a light 7.05 lbs, making it a very lively and expressive guitar.

With its white wash finish and warm humbucker in the neck position, I immediately thought of the great Canadian jazz guitarist Ed Bickert, who favored T-style guitars with big rosewood necks and a humbucker in the neck position. Like the under-appreciated Ted Green, who also played a range of instruments over many years, including many with modifications, both guitarists eventually came to the conclusion that Leo Fender had gotten it right the first time. (As did Keith Richards - to come at it from a different direction). In short, they all realized that simplicity is king. LsL keeps that philosophy alive, with a commitment to making simple, pure designs as well as they can be made.

This guitar has a beautifully figured rosewood fingerboard that is ready to launch your fingers into whatever style of music you play. The maple neck is hefty old-school style, fat in the hands, a neck you can really grab and dig into. You get the tradtional T style tones here in spades from the bridge pickup, and the humbucker just warms things up for the neck position. You can also dial in a great tone with both pickups, and the neck pickup sounds phenomenal through a low gain overdrive. Andy Summers put a humbucker in his old T when he got it, and you can hear it all over the recordings he has made for the last 30 years. There is just something about a T style guitar!

All LsL guitars are lightlly reliced, and are based on an actual vintage guitar, and Lance hand winds the pickups in house which allows him to tune each pick up to the wood in each guitar. And every guitar that leaves the LsL shop is named... this guitar is named "Lupe."  She's a beauty.

ABOUT LsL GUITARS
The LSL Guitars motto is, "Never sell a guitar you don't want to keep." It all started when Lance Lerman experienced an eBay scam where he paid for a '73 Tele that never arrived. At that stage in his career Lance had had at least two stints as a builder/repairman of instruments and had generated 25 years of professional woodworking experience, running multiple large woodworking companies in the US and China. In response to his eBay experience Lance took it upon himself to build a Tele from scratch. With some dread he brought it to the amazing guitar guru, Tommy Kay, handed it over and let him play it. Tommy said, "YOU made this?" "Yeah, I made it" was the reply. Tommy: "You made the body?" And again the answer was "Yes." "You made the neck?" "Yes, I made the whole thing, all of it, except the metal parts, from lumber - planks of wood." Tommy's answer: "I'm blown away!, I'm totally blown away!" Then the question that started a guitar company: "Can you make more of these?" From that point forward, Lance started turning out guitars which kept selling immediately - sometimes within hours. This continued until it became apparent that this was the job Lance was really looking for. A job he felt passionate about, loved doing and quite possibly was one of the few things one could still make in the US successfully. So LSL Instruments was born, and they are finding success with the delivery of every instrument.
