Lance Lehman has been quietly working with passion and commitment to make period accurate reproductions of Fender guitars from the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s. Lance has kept alive the old school methods of making guitars, starting from raw wood, and crafting the guitars by hand, shaping, tuning, finishing. He makes his own pickups in house. His relic guitars are considered "light" relics by industry standards, but are truly amazing accomplishments, each based on a real vintage guitar. When you play one of Lance's guitars, you just feel the collective history of all electric guitars in your hands. Additionally, Lance has developed some wonderful design adaptations for the modern player, such as his lowered apex fret edges. LsL guitars are made for those players who appreciate vintage instruments but can't afford the thousands and in some cases tens-of-thousands of dollars needed to buy a vintage guitar. But, really, LsL guitars are for anyone passionate about playing guitar.

CRAIG'S POV

The first artist model made by Fender was for Mary Kay. Only a few were made in the early 1950s, and they're among the most collectable Fender guitars out there.... but if you want the most amazing Mary Kay style vintage S-style guitar you will ever -- EVER -- find, in your hands now, at a price you just can't believe, this is your guitar.

I have played literally thousands of S-style guitars over the years, and this one rates among the best of the best. First of all, it is the lightest S guitar I have ever had in my hands. But lightness doesn't always mean better. If the guitar is not made right, a very light guitar can loose body and depth in sound. But if made right, a light guitar can be articulate and sweet, full and warm, yet complex with a strong individual voice. This guitar was definitely made right. Actually I think its perfect! It just sings, from the most subtile gesture to the most penetrating. Quite simply, this guitar has it all.

The neck is stellar, a 50s style neck, thick in all the right places, and immeasurably comfortable in your hand. Its a fast neck, but even more an expressive one. The guitar has so much responsiveness that you can get unbelievably delicate vibrato with your left hand, or just use the trem arm for full-on vibrato beauty. This one is set up with a slight bend up (a half step at the fifth fret of the low E string), which is ideal for a vintage tremolo. This guitar just takes the standard/vintage S-style guitar to the new (or perfectly old!) level and powerfully demonstrates just how amazing and versatile a plain old standard S-style guitar can be.

ABOUT LsL GUITARS
The LSL Guitars motto is, "Never sell a guitar you don't want to keep." It all started when Lance Lerman experienced an eBay scam where he paid for a '73 Tele that never arrived. At that stage in his career Lance had had at least two stints as a builder/repairman of instruments and had generated 25 years of professional woodworking experience, running multiple large woodworking companies in the US and China. In response to his eBay experience Lance took it upon himself to build a Tele from scratch. With some dread he brought it to the amazing guitar guru, Tommy Kay, handed it over and let him play it. Tommy said, "YOU made this?" "Yeah, I made it" was the reply. Tommy: "You made the body?" And again the answer was "Yes." "You made the neck?" "Yes, I made the whole thing, all of it, except the metal parts, from lumber - planks of wood." Tommy's answer: "I'm blown away!, I'm totally blown away!" Then the question that started a guitar company: "Can you make more of these?" From that point forward, Lance started turning out guitars which kept selling immediately - sometimes within hours. This continued until it became apparent that this was the job Lance was really looking for. A job he felt passionate about, loved doing and quite possibly was one of the few things one could still make in the US successfully. So LSL Instruments was born, and they are finding success with the delivery of every instrument.
