CRAIG'S POV

This 2023 Wildwood spec Gibson 1964 ES-335 has graced the shop for a few days, and it’s so good, I keep coming back to it. Wildwood spec guitars further enhance their vintage characteristics

The VOS vintage burst finish is beautiful – a gently aged finish that captures the look and feel of vintage Gibsons. At 7.75 pounds, it feels just right in my hands. The neck profile is on point. It hits that sweet spot between chunky ‘50s carves and early ‘60s slim profiles, and honestly, it has a righteous feel that works.

If you’ve read my earlier POVs, you’ll already know how much I appreciate great pickups. The Wildwood Spec Custombuckers impressed me more than I expected. They capture that authentic PAF character I love – warm and complex without the unpredictability of actual vintage units. Clean tones ring with beautiful clarity, and when you push things, the response is exactly what you hope for.

I keep finding myself grabbing this 335 instead of my usual guitars. It covers a lot of ground – jazz, blues, rock – without breaking a sweat. After playing it since its arrival, it’s become one of those guitars I actually look forward to picking up.
