Crafted with the finest seasoned maple and Honduran mahogany, the CL Deluxe is built for tone. Lightweight, resonant mahogany, with a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon joint bring tonal complexity to the table in spades. Collings truly did take a classic design and make it his own. It's acoustically resonant, and when plugged in, does everything you'd expect from a LP style guitar and takes it to a higher level.

CRAIG'S POV

This is the second Collings CL Deluxe in cherry burst that I've gotten in, as I was knocked out by the first one I ordered.  I'm happy I got this one, too.

I'm amazed by the consistent quality of Collings' work.

While this guitar may be a little lighter in weight than my last one, and the grain pattern on the top different, the quality of sound, feel and workmanship is precisely the same high order.

Collings truly did take a classic design and make it his own. To be completely honest, what he did was make it better. It's acoustically resonant, and when plugged in, does everything you'd expect from a LP style guitar and takes it to a higher level. There's no mushiness in the low end.  The whole guitar is searing and singing and woody and ballsy throughout the entire register.

The neck is shaped like a 50's style guitar should be shaped. It has a medium large C shape that tapers perfectly up the fingerboard and fits perfectly in your hand. The fretwork is as impeccable as the nitro cherry burst finish.

While Collings no longer offers Brazilian rosewood for their fingerboards, lo and behold, this guitar fortunately arrived with one. And it is stunning.

If you are looking for a wonderful high-end LP style guitar, the Collings CL Deluxe might be your ticket to guitar nirvana.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
