Our new CL addition is a unique, vintage inspired and aged Pelham Blue beauty. Once again, Collings nailed it! The tone is thick and creamy; it's everything you’d expect from a superb CL that is enhanced with a set of Throbak SLE 101s and vintage capacitors. The neck shape is righteous and the playability is second to none. The aged PB nitro finish adds a warmed up vibe while the creme pickup rings, parallelogram fingerboard inlays and aged hardware further enhance the esthetic.

CRAIG'S POV

For the last several years I've been offering several Collings electric models with customized options like fingerboard binding, eastern maple tops, aged hardware, pickguards, and ThroBak pickups. All of these options were put there in order to achieve a more vintage vibe. It seems that my friends at Collings have been listening. They've formalized those options, added a couple more, and  introduced them as a new finish format which they call "New Aged." I'm deeply impressed! The finishes are perfectly in line with my tastes - sort of a "closet classic" relic; not overly distressed, just the right recipe to warm up the look and feel for that vintage-like panache. To top it off, they even wired their electronic harness with vintage capacitors to further enhance the tone.

Our new CL addition is a unique, vintage inspired and aged Pelham Blue beauty. To be precise, once again, Collings nailed it! In addition, Collings includes a creme pickguard in the case for those who want a more traditional look. The electric tone is superb and can go wherever your musical inspirations take you. To my ears, the Collings CL can dive deep into 'burst sonic' territory minus the muddy low end that sometimes accompanies a Les Paul. It is rich and thick sounding but with clarity and definition.

This is true solid body guitar excellence; light weight with a wonderfully rich resonance. You'd be hard pressed to find a better sounding and playing LP style guitar than this particular CL.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
