This is the perfect Les Paul for people who've never really bonded with a Les Paul - if that makes sense. Les Pauls are fabulous guitars, but they're a high volume guitar. To really experience the unique qualities that have made them classics, you've got to drive them hard. The unique character of this Colling can be appreciated at any volume.

CRAIG'S POV

So, here's a question you might be asking yourself.  Why would I want this guitar?  And the simple answer is, it's just a delightful instrument to play - and hear. Soulful, dynamic, inspiring.

To me, it's the perfect Les Paul for people who've never really bonded with a Les Paul - if that makes sense. Les Pauls are fabulous guitars, but they're a high volume guitar. To really experience the unique qualities that have made them classics, you've got to drive them hard. The unique character of this Colling can be appreciated at any volume.

Here's another question: Why would I want a guitar with mini humbuckers? Here's why. Mini humbuckers are a seriously underrated pickup. They cut through like a single coil but they're quiet. The thing is, great as the mini humbuckers are I have often found that when in the neck position they can be a tad heavy on the midrange - sounding a bit nasally, and robbing a guitar of warmth. So I had Collings do something unique. I had Collings leave the mini humbucker in the bridge position but change the neck pickup to a Lollar Johnny Smith, which is the model on the Collings CL Jazz archtop.  It turned out to be a fantastic combination.  This 360 is super soulful - and even reminds me of the best of the old PAF pickups, oozing character and fullness. As far as I know, this is the only 360 Collings has made with this particular pickup combination.

I hand picked the carved top for this guitar. Collings gave me a chance to choose from their premiere stock, and I jumped at this awesome maple cap, finished in a beautiful cherry burst. It is such a pleasure to work with a guitar maker on the recipe for a guitar. I can throw ideas out there, and Collings really gets what I want in an instrument.  It's gorgeous.

The 360 comes with a vintage style full C profile neck with the addition of rolled fingerboard edges. I requested the rolled edges because it makes the neck feel like a guitar you have been playing for years. The vintage feel along with a guitar that has perfect intonation and awesome playability makes for an inspiring playing experience.

The model 360 is a unique instrument, with a Collings original shape that distributes the weight of the guitar in a different way than the iconic set neck guitar it is based on. The redistribution of weight and the shape itself makes this an enormously comfortable guitar to play, both sitting and standing.

So the final question is: What are you waiting for? Call or email me for more information. And adjectives.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
