Combining the timeless appearance and enduringly popular tone of the "0" body style with a 12-string configuration has resulted in this unique model. With a sound that belies its small size, the 0 12-String has exceptional note separation with a quick attack and beautiful harmonic complexity. The smaller body dimension and short 24 7/8" scale also impart a percussive quality to the note attack that makes this an exceptional fingerstyle and recording guitar. With a sound and feel all its own, the 0 12-String brings something new to this classic design.

This one is coming home. We sold this 12-string when it was new, and it has come back to us in excellent plus condition with no issues. The original hardshell case tells part of the story on its own, covered in stickers from the places this guitar has been.

I am a big fan of 12-string acoustic guitars. As a session player, I've relied on them when a track needed an extra lift; they provide that sonic spice that can turn just-good-enough into great. For me, they're an invaluable musical tool, whether they're the glue that holds the rhythm section together or a solo instrument (à la Leo Kottke). The tricky part is finding a worthy 12-string. It just isn't easy. The truth is that many elements have to come together to make an excellent guitar. The right scale length, a comfortable neck carve, inspiring tonewoods, and body design all have to unite to create a great instrument.

It's no surprise that Collings has brought all those elements together. This maple body 03 12-string is a joy to experience and a treat to play. The sound is rich, warm, and focused without the boomy bottom end that accompanies many 12-strings, and that alone sets it apart. The fit, finish, and playability show Collings at their best. The woods (flamed maple and German spruce), the tortoise bindings, and the slotted headstock add an elegance to this killer guitar.

The vibe is vintage and modern, all in one sublime package. Tune it in standard tuning or drop it to D or C; the musical possibilities are only limited to your 12-string imagination. Grab it and have some fun. You deserve it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality.
