A mix of Fullerton and Kalamazoo

This beauty is brand new to the shop. To build it, an actual 1958 Epiphone Crestwood owned by a player/collector (thanks, Nicky!) was used as a template. The early Crestwood has become a cult guitar and Thomas brilliantly took the design and made it his own. The Brunswick is one fantastic instrument. First, it is just stunning. Second, every aspect of the guitar has something rewarding to discover; the headstock, the wood inlay logo, the finish, the fretwork – all are excellent.

CRAIG'S POV

I am always on the lookout for great luthiers, and I'm embarrassed to admit I did not know about Tom Rodriguez until very recently. How did a builder of such skill fly so far under my radar? Tom is a well-respected classical builder, and I was unaware of his exceptional vintage-inspired electrics. They are not merely exemplary instruments--they are truly superb!

This beauty is brand new to the shop. To build it, an actual 1958 Epiphone Crestwood owned by a player/collector (thanks, Nicky!) was used as a template. The early Crestwood has become a cult guitar, whose original production lasted about as long as it took me to fall in love with this guitar.

Its cutaway shape and slab body are a mighty nod westward to Fullerton, while the materials, control layout, and hardware are pure Kalamazoo. Its innovative design gives the player unfettered access to the entire fingerboard – it's just a better double cut guitar.

Thomas brilliantly took the design and made it his own. The Brunswick is one fantastic instrument. First, it is just stunning. Second, every aspect of the guitar has something rewarding to discover; the headstock, the wood inlay logo, the finish, the fretwork – all are excellent. Third, the fit and finish are of the absolute highest level, precisely what one expects from a finely handcrafted guitar.

I love the exquisite neck carve and the access to the highest frets. Sonically, it's like a guitar from the golden era that defined what electric guitars could do. And it delivers that sound with the joy of modern playability.

Tom Rodriguez has built guitars for many insiders in the guitar world. Those who know, know. And now you have a chance to discover his exemplary work for yourself.
