The result of four years of prototyping and collaborating, the Jim Hall Guitar is designed for the working musician as well as the discriminating collector.

Sadowsky Guitars has maintained Jim Hall’s guitars for over 15 years. Roger and Jim began to collaborate on a Sadowsky model and were committed to the idea that this would have to be a guitar that Jim would want to play, not just endorse. The Sadowsky Jim Hall Guitar meets all of Jim’s requirements as a player.
After several prototypes, Roger refined the Jim Hall Guitar by reducing the thickness of the top and back to provide a more acoustic response. He reduced the depth of the body to control feedback, designed a new ebony tailpiece with a string ground, and shaped the neck until it felt just right to Jim.

Incorporating Roger’s sense of aesthetics and design, the result is a beautiful looking, feeling, and sounding guitar that has been enthusiastically received by Jim Hall and many other players worldwide.

CRAIG'S POV

Simply put, Roger Sadowsky's Jim Hall model archtop is one of my favorite jazz guitars on the market today.

To be honest I am a bit emotionally vested in this guitar, having been somewhat involved with its evolution. Over the years that Roger was working on its build I had the good fortune to play almost every iteration and prototype, and had the open ears of Roger, who was willing to listen to my feedback and suggestions. The end result is a classic jazz guitar, that in my opinion, would be able to stand alongside any laminate archtop guitar made today. It is a guitar that speaks perfection in every way, from the fit and finish, to its selection of woods, to its wonderful liquid jazz tones. It is a guitar designed for the working musician yet I feel it is worthy of being in an elite guitar collection. A brilliant guitar designed by a brilliant builder for Jim Hall, one of the greatest jazz guitarists to ever walk this earth.

ABOUT SADOWSKY GUITARS
Mention the name Roger Sadowsky to your average guitar player, and you'll likely elicit a "Roger Who?" But that name is spoken in almost reverent tones amongst working musicians. Sadowsky has built this reputation by giving the modern guitarist and bassist what he needs--a no-nonsense, versatile, and reliable electric guitar that performs great and sounds better. Of course, these are claims made by every guitar company in existence; but Sadowsky Guitars is one of the very few companies that can actually back it up. Sadowsky Guitars is based in Long Island City, in Queens New York where founder Roger Sadowsky built the business from the ground up in 1979, after 7 years of guitar luthier training. Today, the Sadowsky company has around 10 employees and caters to guitarists such as; Walter Becker, Jim Hall, Chuck Loeb, Russell Malone, Jimmy Bruno, and Lee Ritenour.
