Whether you are looking for rich, authentic, vintage humbucking tones or nuanced, sweet single coil sounds, the McCarty 594 can seamlessly master both sonic territories thanks to the 58/15 LT pickups and push/pull coil taps on the tone controls. The electronics layout, a few key specifications, and PRS craftsmanship combine in the McCarty 594 to create an instrument that plays in tune, and feels like a guitar that you've been playing forever.
PRS makes guitars for the working musician and magnificently ornate instruments for collectors who want museum pieces and everything in between. Paul Reed Smith has created an excellent guitar company. I can't think of anyone who has mastered so many aspects of the guitar, from electric guitars to acoustic guitars to guitar amps; the range of what PRS does at a world-class level is tremendously impressive. I have never cared much for ornamentation — I was, after all, a working guitarist for many years, mainly cutting my teeth in the trenches of recording studios. That is why the McCarty 594 model is one of my all-time favorite PRS models. It is a beautifully made, superb-sounding modern guitar with a vintage heart.
Our newest arrival is a 2016 PRS McCarty 594 with the upgraded Artist Package and rosewood neck.
Whether you are looking for rich, authentic, vintage humbucking tones or nuanced, sweet single coil sounds, the McCarty 594 can seamlessly master both sonic territories thanks to the 58/15 LT pickups and push/pull coil taps on the tone controls. The electronics layout, a few key specifications, and PRS craftsmanship combine in the McCarty 594 to create an instrument that plays in tune, is intonated the entire length of the neck, and feels like a guitar that you've been playing forever.
With a McCarty cherry sunburst finish, the Artist grade flame maple top has a visual brilliance that holds your attention; the wood grain is tight and pronounced. The body is premium mahogany, and the neck is Indian rosewood with a chocolatey Gaboon ebony fingerboard. I love the feel of the pattern vintage neck profile!
The pickups are styled after the old PAFs and have a tone rich in harmonics that we've come to expect from "Golden Era" guitars. The tone knobs are push-pull to activate a coil tap, so you can also get articulate single coil tones, which adds significantly to the versatility of this excellent player.

ABOUT PRS PRIVATE STOCK
Everyone has heard of PRS Guitars; they are one of America's great entrepreneurial success stories. But not everyone has heard of the Paul Reed Smith Private Stock instruments. These are special guitars, in every sense. That's what inspired us here at CR Guitars to seek them out; they conform perfectly to our vision of what "hand selected" really means. The goal behind the PRS Private Stock of instruments is not only to create the most beautiful and best playing guitars money can buy, but the best sounding. PRS works very closely with each order - through hourly discussions, experimentation, meticulous checks of every detail at each step in the process and making final tweaks when the guitar is complete - to make sure they are building the best guitars possible. If you get an extraordinary instrument from Private Stock that is equally as good as a family heirloom and a musician’s tool to make a living on, then the Private Stock goal has come to fruition.
“Whether built to your specification or ours, every Private Stock instrument is carefully guided through the process by highly talented, seasoned guitar makers, and each completed instrument is checked and signed by Paul Miles and me. From all of us on the Private Stock team, thank you for looking at and considering a Private Stock instrument. If you decide on a Private Stock guitar, we will give everything we have to make it the best instrument you’ve ever experienced.” - Paul Reed Smith
