Preowned 2004, excellent

Just in, a stunning example of an all-time favorite PRS model; the Archtop Artist. PRS Archtop Artists are exceedingly rare, built between 2002 and 2004. Falling somewhere between a Private Stock and standard issue, this PRS Artist Archtop comes equipped with upgrades only available on custom-ordered guitars. The back is carved artist-grade maple, while the top is a beautiful piece of carved Sitka spruce.

CONDITION: excellent. The finish is vibrant and quite clean with little evidence of wear. The frets have moderate wear. The Brazilian fretboard shows considerable amount of nail wear marks from the first fret up towards the 12th fret. The feel and playability are excellent.

CRAIG'S POV

Just in, a stunning example of one of my all-time favorite PRS models; the Archtop Artist. The fretboard is Brazilian rosewood inlaid with paua birds. The headstock has a Brazilian veneer, and an inlaid PRS signature. The back of the headstock has Paul's gold script with "To Kevin" in gold as well. (Kevin must have known someone.)

It's simple, elegant, and refined. There is something quite special about PRS's Archtop, which I prefer over their popular Hollowbody model. The electric tone has more character, and the deeper body depth feels better when being played - it is also way cooler! When combined with the piezo pickup, the sound oozes woody character, while the dual humbuckers alone can cross into pretty much any sonic territory. I am a big fan of the PRS Archtop, and this particular Artist model has got it all. A big thumbs up!

ABOUT PRS PRIVATE STOCK
Everyone has heard of PRS Guitars; they are one of America's great entrepreneurial success stories. But not everyone has heard of the Paul Reed Smith Private Stock instruments. These are special guitars, in every sense. That's what inspired us here at CR Guitars to seek them out; they conform perfectly to our vision of what "hand selected" really means. The goal behind the PRS Private Stock of instruments is not only to create the most beautiful and best playing guitars money can buy, but the best sounding. PRS works very closely with each order - through hourly discussions, experimentation, meticulous checks of every detail at each step in the process and making final tweaks when the guitar is complete - to make sure they are building the best guitars possible. If you get an extraordinary instrument from Private Stock that is equally as good as a family heirloom and a musician’s tool to make a living on, then the Private Stock goal has come to fruition.

“Whether built to your specification or ours, every Private Stock instrument is carefully guided through the process by highly talented, seasoned guitar makers, and each completed instrument is checked and signed by Paul Miles and me. From all of us on the Private Stock team, thank you for looking at and considering a Private Stock instrument. If you decide on a Private Stock guitar, we will give everything we have to make it the best instrument you’ve ever experienced.” - Paul Reed Smith
