Preowned, very good condition

This particular guitar was made 20 years ago, when Johan was building his brand. Back then he entertained and executed any number of custom/one off builds. This is a perfect example: take the time honored Tele shape and twist it up with classic Gibson materials, pickups, finish and scale length. The result is nothing short of remarkable. This is a veritable gold top in Tele clothing. The chambering adds more air around the notes, while still excelling from squeaky clean to over-the-top high gain.

CRAIG'S POV

This is a very special guitar I'm able to offer for sale. Johan Gustavsson is, in my opinion, one of the finest electric builders in this golden age of lutherie. His Bluesmaster, Dotmaster, and Fullerblaster models have become legendary amongst players and collectors alike. They are highly desirable, much sought after and hard to obtain. When my buddy and remarkable guitarist Matt Henderson told me about the custom Tele JG that Johan built in 1998 I let him know that if he ever wanted to sell it, I'd like to offer it through CR guitars. So, here it is: A well played custom JG that is beautifully worn with tons of mojo and astounding tone.

In Matt's words:
"Back in 2010, I approached Craig with the possibility of his becoming a Gustavsson dealer. He agreed and the rest is history. Craig has become a great friend and apex level supporter for Johan's instruments.

"I've been working with Johan since 2001, and this is the lowest serial number Gustavsson I have ever had in hand. I've used this guitar to cover all the ground of a Les Paul, but with a chambered 6 1/2 lb frame. The chambering adds more air around the notes, while still excelling from squeaky clean to over-the-top high gain. This is a true Tele-Gibson. A one of one Gustavsson instrument.

"Johan is backed up with orders these days and no longer takes custom orders. There will never be another."

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT JOHAN GUSTAVSSON GUITARS
It's probably fair to say that there have been few builders who’ve made as deep an impact on the contemporary guitar world as quickly as Johan Gustavsson. He’s taken the ’59 burst to a level that you likely haven’t experienced from any other builder. Johan's first exposure to a fine guitar was via his teacher, Robert Larsson, who had (as Johan puts it) “an old beaten up 1960 Les Paul Standard.” It was then he realized just what a great guitar could be. The experience continued when Johan got a part time job at one of the few places importing vintage guitars to Sweden from the U.S. (fifties Gibson Les Paul Goldtops, Juniors, pre-CBS Strats, Teles and Jazzmasters, etc). The exposure to that level of guitar and to that many great instruments had a great influence on his work as a guitar maker. Again – the quality of those guitars showed the possibilities inherent in the instrument. Johan has always been more attracted to the Gibson style of making guitars (with carved maple tops and glued in necks), and this is reflected in his most famous, and current model, the Bluesmaster Custom 59. A Gustavsson guitar is a Gustavsson guitar. His shop consists of Johan and an able assistant who was trained at the London Guild Hall University (and is a wonderful guitarist). That’s both good and bad news. The good news is that Johan’s genius is evident in every guitar he creates. The bad news is that since he makes them all himself, there are never many available. It’s a rare treat to play one. Simply superb.
