Preowned 2015, near mint

Based on a Les Paul, Gil has modulated and expanded the range of what a venerable guitar can do. Pick it up, experience the incredible neck profile and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and you'll know what a vintage 59 'burst actually feels like. The lightweight (6 pounds!) body sits and feels like an old friend in your lap. The Bone's old-growth mahogany body is solid but lightweight due to Gil's innovative body construction. The mahogany shell body (with a paulownia core) creates an exceptionally resonant guitar.

CRAIG'S POV

I have always been impressed with Gil Yaron's instruments, and our current offering is no exception; it's a fantastic guitar made by one of today's top builders. Gil cut his teeth in the '90s doing detailed restoration work on fine vintage instruments. He knows these classic guitars from the inside out. He knows what makes them tick. He knows the secret sauce. He knows the proper geometry. He knows the feel. And most importantly, he knows the sound.

Gil's sensibilities are in complete harmony with the magic of a vintage guitar, so much so that he could replicate one perfectly. Instead, Yaron distilled all that vintage charm and goodness into his unique design, and added inspired ideas and masterful craftsmanship into the mix.

Based on a Les Paul, Gil has modulated and expanded the range of what a venerable guitar can do. Pick it up, experience the incredible neck profile and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and you'll know what a vintage 59 'burst actually feels like; I'm adding this to my excellent neck profile file. The lightweight (6 pounds!) body sits and feels like an old friend in my lap.

From this point on, Gil's build magic really starts to sparkle. The Bone's old-growth mahogany body is solid but lightweight due to Gil's innovative body construction. The mahogany shell body (with a paulownia core) creates an exceptionally resonant guitar. Add in Yarons Air Gap humbuckers - which combine PAF and Broadcaster wound coils - and you enter an exceptional sonic territory. Imagine a guitar that marries the woodiness of a vintage Les Paul to the twangy chime of a Telecaster, and the result is a seductive singing tone. It's one of the most vocal sounding guitars I've heard. If you are a Fender player who can't get into Les Pauls - or vice versa - this killing guitar bridges that gap.

Gil Yaron's Bone 1 is a stellar guitar, so much so that Guitar Player magazine gave it an Editors' Pick Award. For those of you longing for a Yaron, this Bone 1 should be on your need-to-check-this out list.
