The JA-15 was born from a collaboration between two Pauls: The tremendous guitarist Paul Jackson Jr, and the tremendous maker, Paul Reed Smith. They came up with an immediate “go to” guitar for the jazz, fusion or blues player. They created this beauty from a recipe that included part 175, part 335 and part PRS hollow body.

The result of a collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and Paul Jackson, Jr., the JA-15 was originally designed with jazz musicians in mind. But with several new innovations, it’s no surprise rockers are loving it too. Highlights include a “pattern” neck shape, 57/08 pickups and a 2-piece adjustable bridge. The warmth of the spruce top paired with the high-end clarity of the figured maple back creates a resonance in this guitar that is balanced with tonal clarity, and the simple control layout makes the JA-15 a joy to play.

CRAIG'S POV

I have had the pleasure of having some of Paul Reed Smith’s Private stock at the shop. (They are, without question, superior instruments - check them out while you’re here). Even though in the past I’ve limited myself to offering Paul’s Private Stock issues, this guitar is so well done, I felt it worth sharing with my fellow guitarists.

The JA-15 was born from a collaboration between two Pauls: The tremendous guitarist Paul Jackson Jr, and the tremendous maker, Paul Reed Smith. They came up with what I think is an immediate “go to” guitar for the jazz, fusion or blues player. They created this beauty from a recipe that included part 175, part 335 and part PRS hollow body, resulting in a delicious soulful gumbo of guitarness with a distinctive point of view of its own.

It’s an extremely well thought out instrument, quite versatile for all playing styles, thanks to a feel and touch that all its own.

The JA-15 has a fantastic “pattern” neck shape. In other words, a full medium C with just enough of the shoulders taken off to give it a perfect carve that rests beautifully in the hand.

The pickups are warm and fat with the right amount of bite.

A real standout feature of this guitar is its rich, clear and purposeful high end. When I play up the high E string the notes just punch out, and never seem to get thin or brittle. They just shine.

The JA-15 is a wonderful instrument, priced fairly, and one I feel worthy of your consideration if you are looking for a guitar that covers the range between Metheny, Ford, and Scofield. (Not to mention Paul Jackson, Jr). It’s just waiting to put on your own sonic signature.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.
