The Park Top Mount Limited Edition is the ultimate British style 45 amplifier. It goes from a full-bodied and crisp clean sound to a harmonically rich overdrive when cranked. It responds well to the guitar’s volume control and cleans up when turned down. Its organic and earthy tones are immediately apparent as soon as you plug in.

CRAIG'S POV

The Park Top Mount Limited Edition is the ultimate British style 45 amplifier. It goes from a full-bodied and crisp clean sound to a harmonically rich overdrive when cranked. It responds well to the guitar’s volume control and cleans up when turned down. Its organic and earthy tones are immediately apparent as soon as you plug in.

The Park Top Mount LTD uses hard to find New Old Stock parts and the best sourced modern components to achieve its touch-sensitive and organic tones. The selection of parts has been critical to achieving true vintage tones from a newly built amplifier. Each component has been carefully chosen in every part of the amp circuit. The list of NOS and new parts includes Piher and Allen Bradley resistors, Mustard and Lemco capacitors, TAD, F&T and Sprague electrolytic capacitors plus Merren clone power and output transformers (the 8k primary output transformer even has 16 ohm, 8 ohm and 100 volt speaker taps just like the originals).

The obsession with getting the amp “vintage correct” went even further and includes many other component and cosmetic parts including McMurdo octal sockets, Belling-Lee fuse holders, recreated Park vents, banana knobs and black plexi logo as well as EC Collins Park repro grill cloth. The modern tubes used in the amp were selected for low noise and rich tone and include Tung Sol 12AX7s, Sovtek 12AX7s as well as Gold Lion KT66s. Like vintage versions of these types of amps, the top mount LTD uses an aluminum chassis; only this time it is thicker and spot welded to withstand the rigors of the road.

At 30-35 watts clean and 45 watts at full clipping, this circuit has been heard on countless seminal guitar recordings from the mid 1960s through the present. Think EC with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck and many others. Since this version uses the early 45 circuit, its tone is rich and warm compared to the later 50 watt British amps. Since it uses less filtering, it has a slightly softer feel and is extremely responsive to the touch. But don’t let these attributes fool you; this amp is capable of some mighty crunch sounds in addition to its stellar clean sound (check out Keith Nelson’s rig of Buckcherry).

Each amp is custom built by hand in Mitch’s shop and tested for tone before leaving. The quality of workmanship is second to none and each amp is built to last a lifetime.

There will only be 20 limited edition Park Top Mount heads due to the scarcity of the components (only five combos will be built). This particular amp is serial “#2 of 20” and is even more rare due to the red levant vinyl covering!

The limited edition Park Top Mount 45 is truly classic and destined to be a highly sought-after collectible.

ABOUT PARK AMPS
Park amps are newly manufactured guitar amps that faithfully recreate the sound, feel and look of some of the best British made amps from the 1960s and 1970s. The first available amps use the traditional 45 and 50 circuits that have been made classic on so many of the best blues and rock recordings from the 1960s through the present. The man behind Park is Mitch Colby who had a 30 year relationship with two of the most iconic British amp companies. After a long career with Unicord and Korg USA, the exclusive US distributors of Marshall and VOX, he started Colby Amplification in 2012. Park became part of Colby in 2013. Mitch has since introduced a few models of Colby and Park amps that have already been added to the tone arsenals of collectors, tone aficionados and touring artists alike. Park amps are built the same way they were in the 1960s and 1970s; hand built to perfection. Only high quality new and NOS parts are incorporated for reliability and tone, The tried and true tube circuits have been very carefully recreated so that the entire experience between the guitarist, guitar and amp is enhanced.
