What George Lowden says:
"It has been my great pleasure to get to know Richard over the years and to enjoy his playing! At Lowden we only consider a signature model for someone who has played our guitars consistently for a long time. Richard has been playing Lowden guitars for many many years and we are honored to introduce this model. Richard chose this wood combination and other specifications because of the really full-bodied loud and clear response of ziricote and cedar.

"I am delighted to have worked with Richard on this project. He has been playing Lowden guitars since the 1980s, and his exceptional, unique talent has been widely influential over his lengthy career.

"The “F” model particularly suits his playing style with its powerful yet more focussed voice and the combination of the rare ziricote with selected western red cedar provides a very warm and dynamic tone with articulate clarity.

"I’m pleased our relationship has found such an expression in this guitar."

CRAIG'S POV

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of playing a Lowden guitar, let me tell you - they’re very special instruments. Take a look at the players who play them professionally (all of whom could endorse pretty much any acoustic they choose) and you’ll get a sense of just how much of a bond they create with the player. This particular offering is a Richard Thompson model Lowden. I had the pleasure to spend some time with Richard during an acoustic guitar seminar. Besides being a legendary singer and songwriter, he is one of the finest and most eclectic guitar players I’ve ever heard. His chosen guitar needs to be able to navigate all his musical twists and turns; a guitar with a truly robust character. With his signature Lowden, he can get the rich, woody, and organic sonic palette he’s looking for.

There is something very special about how Lowden voices his guitars that allows them to be incredibly versatile and open sounding. Maybe it's his dolphin profile soundboard voicing, or his special recipe of multiple AAA grade tone woods. But however he achieves it, it carves out a very special and unique place in the acoustic guitar world.

This is a guitar that transcends any one style. It would be as great for fingerstyle as it would for strumming or picking. It’s exquisite to look at. It’s exquisite to play. In a beautiful package, this is a truly exquisite instrument.

Lowden guitars are an inspiring delight.

ABOUT LOWDEN GUITARS
Lowden guitars occupy a unique place in the pantheon of high-end flattops. With a loud and overtone-rich signature voice, unique construction details (including a split saddle and A-frame bracing of the upper bout), and a general vibe that differs from most classic American steel-strings, the guitars have found fans in such heavyweights as Pierre Bensusan, Paul Brady, Alex de Grassi, Richard Thompson, and many others. Lowden production began in 1974, and after several changes in management and manufacturing facilities, the guitars are now built in a small Northern Ireland shop under the direct supervision of company founder George Lowden.
