Preowned, 2016, like new condition

Other than some very light pick scratching on the pickguard this wonderful guitar looks as nice as the day it was originally sold. The Traditional Series Collings guitars are about as close to a vintage tonality as you can get in a small company's bench made guitars. Collings hand selects the tone woods- in this case Adirondack spruce and Honduran mahogany - to facilitate the warm rounded highs and present low mids that characterize the tonality of this model.

The Traditional or "T" Series guitars reflect Bill Collings' return to his guitar making roots and offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound. Each T Series guitar is built using animal protein glue and a very thin all nitrocellulose lacquer finish, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive. Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection. Each Traditional Series guitar comes with a handmade lightweight Collings case designed and built in the Collings shop. The pairing of these new Traditional guitars and cases makes for a combination of old world quality and aesthetic that is unprecedented among instruments available today.

CRAIG'S POV

Just arrived, a 2016 Collings OM1T (Traditional Series) acoustic in immaculate condition.

Other than some very light pick scratching on the pickguard this wonderful guitar looks as nice as the day I originally sold it. To my ears, the Traditional Series Collings guitars are about as close to a vintage tonality as you can get in a small company's bench made guitars. Collings hand selects the tone woods- in this case Adirondack spruce and Honduran mahogany - to facilitate the warm rounded highs and present low mids that characterize the tonality of this model. Like the desirable acoustics of yesteryear all the wood is joined with animal protein glue. The neck profile is specially carved; it is based on the existing Vintage Now dimensions but with a distinct neck taper and rounded fingerboard edges for a played-in feel. In my hands, it has that prewar guitar feel.

Though the tonality and construction give a nod to the past, the fit, finish and playability are what you expect from Collings today - just immaculate, and as always Collings is at the top of their game.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
