This is the perfect jazz guitar for players who are looking for a guitar with a floating style pickup. It has a seductive acoustic tone, despite its slender 15" body, while also possessing a full range electric jazz tone, thanks to its impeccable build and Lollar Johnny Smith style pickup. All hand carved, with a mahogany body and European spruce top, this instrument exudes a bespoke wonderfulness. As far as a modern jazz guitar, it really doesn’t get any better than this.

Thin, light, and exquisite, the City Limits Jazz commands attention. Built with a fully hollow Honduran mahogany body, carved European spruce top with the new parallel bracing pattern, and modern stylings, this sleek thin-bodied archtop is made for jazz.

CRAIG'S POV

The Collings CL Jazz is a rare legendary model guitar conceived by the brilliant Bill Collings. It is a remarkably responsive instrument with a lively, sensitive, woody tone. This a an archtop guitar that really needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

In my opinion, it is the perfect jazz guitar for players who are looking for a guitar with a floating style pickup.

It has been several years since I’ve received a new CL Jazz from Collings. They make few a year and the back order is quite long. I’m never sure if and when I’ll see another. So if the CL Jazz is something you’ve been yearning for, don’t hesitate. This stunning example, in a beautiful Merlot finish, is here, waiting for its new home.

If you'd like to find out more about this item, just call or e-mail me. It would be my pleasure to talk to you about it.

ABOUT COLLINGS GUITARS
Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Texas in the mid 1970’s. Spurred by a lack of interest in medical school, this move enabled him to combine lifelong interests in both guitars and tools into the challenge of stringed instrument building and repair. After a couple of years in Houston, several guitars and a few banjos later, he headed west to southern California. Making it only as far as Austin, where he shared shops with fellow luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. From there, he set up his own small shop in a wooden "one car" garage. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1000 square foot space and hired two helpers. Fast forward to present day where Collings craftsmanship is respected by professional and amateur musicians alike…anyone on the quest for quality. Some of these include artists; Keith Richards, Lyle Lovett, Pete Townshend, Emmylou Harris, Andy Summers, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, Joni Mitchell, Don Felder, John Sebastian, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Tim O'Brien, Pete Huttlinger, Kenny Smith, Brian May, Joan Baez, John Prine, Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap, and Steven Spielberg to name a few. You owe it to yourself to try one.
